PUBG Update 36.2 pairs the aespa collaboration—including new Emote Stages—with Ranked balance adjustments, UGC Alpha content, and Clan upgrades.
When I jumped back into PUBG for Update 36.2, I immediately felt that this patch was about more than just cosmetics. It brought a full aespa-themed takeover, the first real taste of PUBG UGC Alpha, meaningful Clan improvements, and a set of Ranked changes that directly addressed player feedback. I spent hours exploring the new stages, testing the adjusted vehicles, and digging through the Clan menus so I could break down everything that matters.

Maintenance timing was split across platforms. PC servers went down from July 9 at 00:00 to 08:30 UTC, while Console players waited until July 17 from 01:00 to 09:00 UTC. Times were subject to change, but in practice the rollout felt smooth.
The aespa Collaboration Hits Miramar and Starting Islands
The PUBG x aespa collaboration turned out to be much deeper than a few store bundles. Mysterious arenas styled after an aespa concert venue appeared on Miramar, and several buildings were converted into themed Rest Stops. I noticed themed Care Packages and planes on several maps, which made the whole match feel like a crossover event rather than a simple skin drop.
The standout feature for me was the Emote Stage. It appeared on some starting islands of Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi, Taego, Deston, and Rondo. If you performed a PUBG x aespa emote on the stage, the corresponding music video would trigger. On Console, album images were displayed instead, except for the track "Dark Arts," which was handled on both PC and Console.

Only PUBG x aespa emotes could be performed on the stage, so I couldn't mix in older dance moves. I could either join the emote on stage or cheer from below using the Interaction key. The music video stopped as soon as the emote ended. The stage remained usable from match start until players boarded the plane, then it disappeared. It worked in Normal Match, Ranked, and Casual Mode. A new default lobby music track, "PNC 2025 Anthem (aespa - Dark Arts)," was also added, which gave the main menu an immediate aespa energy.
Ranked and Normal Match Balance Adjustments
Update 36.2 made three important gameplay changes that applied to both Normal Match and Ranked. The Red Zone no longer appeared from Phase 3 onwards, which reduced late-game randomness and made rotations more predictable. The BRDM-2 had its maximum speed and durability reduced, and the world spawn amount of C4 was lowered. The developers said they were responding to feedback after Update 36.1 introduced features previously exclusive to Normal Match into Ranked. As someone who plays a lot of Ranked, I welcomed these changes because they made the mid-to-late game feel fairer without removing the tools entirely.

The Vehicle Camo Netting also received a significant rework based on player feedback. Its durability increased, which felt better when trying to hide a vehicle near cover. However, certain situations would instantly destroy the camo netting: the vehicle's durability reaching 0, the vehicle moving or tilting, or the tires being destroyed. Its weight dropped from 20 to 15, which made it easier to carry as a utility item. It also became available on Rondo and Taego, expanding its use beyond the previous maps.

PUBG UGC Alpha Makes Its Debut
PUBG UGC Alpha was first mentioned in the 2025 Roadmap, and Update 36.2 finally brought it into the game. UGC Alpha was set to run for three months, from July through September. Before the official launch in August, I was able to participate in UGC Alpha sessions during July. Once August arrived, any player with a BATTLEGROUNDS Plus account could create their own UGC Alpha sessions in Custom Match. This was the very first version of PUBG UGC, so it came with early limitations. It was initially available on PC only, which I understood given how ambitious the feature is.

Clan Member Rankings and Quality-of-Life Updates
The Clan system got a welcome upgrade. A new Member Rankings page was added, letting me check weekly rankings based on each Clan member's contributions. Two categories were displayed: Challenge Contribution and Weekly Clan XP. My ranking appeared at the bottom of the leaderboard, which was a small but helpful touch.
Rankings reset every Wednesday at 02:00 UTC. If members tied on Challenge Contribution or Weekly Clan XP, their ranking was determined by join order. Members with 0 contribution or 0 Clan XP would not appear in the rankings. The member who ranked first in either category was selected as Member of the Week for the following week, and I could view this on both the Members page and the Member Rankings page. If the same member ranked first in both categories, they could be selected for both. When a selected Member of the Week left the Clan, they were removed from the rankings and display. I also appreciated that notifications were sent via Clan Updates when Members of the Week were selected.

Nine new Clan Tag Plates were added, and Clan Loot Caches changed from automatic distribution to manual claiming through the Clan - Challenges page. This gave me more control over when I claimed rewards. Another notable addition was 1-Man Duo mode, which became available in all regions where Duo mode already existed.
Crafting, Esports, and Bug Fixes
Several new collaboration skins arrived as craftable items through Special Crafting at the Workshop. The aespa Crafting tab was accessible only until a set closing date, so players had to use their Tokens before it disappeared. Two new PNC 2025 sets, PNC 2023 Favorites sets, and 24 PNC 2025 National Team-themed helmets were also added. The PNC 2025 Crafting tab had its own closing date. A brand new Survivor Pass was prepared for Update 36.2, with full details available in the July Store Update.
The PNC 2025 Pick'em Challenge launched through the Esports tab in the lobby. The Overview page showed the tournament schedule and prize pool details. The Pick'em Challenge page included participating teams, remaining voting coupons, Esports Points, and the Esports Point Shop button. One key change was that Pick the Winner now rewarded players who voted for teams that finished in the top 9, up from the previous top 6. Esports Points could be exchanged for PNC 2025 Tokens in the Esports Point Shop.

Beyond features, Update 36.2 included a long list of fixes. The Sanhok map was optimized to reduce hitching during movement. Steam Game Recording was now supported during gameplay, automatically marking the start and end of each match and adding game markers for key events. The default character pose in the customization screen was adjusted for more natural arm spacing. Fixes also covered spectating after Death Cam replay, the pin-pulling sound on the Emergency Cover Flare, moving items to a vehicle trunk while knocked out, and a Ranked issue where eliminating the same player more than once could prevent the Predator medal from being awarded even after killing a full squad by yourself. Several cosmetic clipping problems were fixed, including ankle and waist transparency with certain outfits, and some shirt items that incorrectly displayed as the Lost's Shirt.
Overall, Update 36.2 felt like a patch that listened to its community. The balance changes were targeted, the aespa collaboration was fun without overwhelming core gameplay, and UGC Alpha gave me a promising early look at what could become a major creative tool. The Clan and esports additions were practical, and the large bug-fix pass made the whole experience smoother. I was genuinely excited to keep playing after the update settled in.
